Use the same map for specularity, and specularity color along with raytrace reflections. The environment cant be black or a single color, there needs to be something there to reflect. Thats the main reason I built the surrounding to finish the effect.
Wow! I am going to use the money to upgrade my PC. Thanks to everyone who entered its been a blast creating the art for the contest along with seeing all the great work here at deviant art. I will make a complete tutorial on the scene created along with the objects to download.
Benchmark tests have shown the i7 Extreme to be 39.2% faster overall than the latest AMD Quad in some areas of the benchmark test it exceeded 59% faster. For my interests though the i7 FAR exceeded the Core2 Extreme AND the AMD Phenom Quad in all 3D rendering applications and i recommended by most major 3D software companies in testing - as far as video cards go you are doing good if you get the nVidia chipset, but stay clear of the "big names". The Sparkle cards were highly recommended by Kelly Myers of Battlestar Galactica fame
Man, Another sweet model!! I have 3DS Max but dont know how to use it very well. Im used to Maya, and heard there is a plug-in to change the main screen in 3ds to the maya UI. How was the learning curve on 3ds max for ya?
I have used a older version of Maya but both are totally different in how they model. Max works in stacks kinda like after effects and I am not a big fan of the texturing engine but once you get the hang of it its fine.
Cool man, Thanks for the advice! See thats what I love though is the texturing. With a Maya to zbrush workflow things are just so fast but I really like the results from the renders that I see from 3ds. Im posting a update right now, So you will see zbrush texture power. I really didnt spend alot of time but...got the job done. If you ever want tips on zbrush Im very willing to help!!
I just use unwrap UV maps for the texturing. I want to learn zbrush because of the great models and textures it creates. Also You can create objects in zbrush and import them to 3DS Max, there all great tools. But keep up the good work and I am sure I will have a zbrush question one I purchase a copy.
Yeah, I UV Unwrapp with roadkill right now, or maya. Zbrush just came out with an unwrapping tool but I dont have the newest zbrush (it has the sickest tools ever!) so i cant use it. Yeah bro anything you need with it let me know! other wise go to [link] to start your zbrush experience!!!
No realflow, just poly modeling and mental ray rendering. I tried a lot if sub surface scattering on the blood but a standard materiel worked best. But the heart was all mental ray fast skin shader with procedural textures.
